The basics
Driveline is smart’s official back-to-basics extended warranty option. It protects the main components that make up the engine, transmission and drive-train of your smart car. Essentially, this means the main parts that make your car run.
It’s the least comprehensive of our extended warranties, but the most inexpensive. If you’re looking for more extensive cover, including the cover of more components, a higher claims limit and replacement vehicle cover, check out our Tier 1 and Tier 2 extended warranties instead.
With all levels of smart extended warranty cover, should a problem arise with your smart car, all you need to do is get in touch with your nearest authorised smart retailer and let them know that your car is covered. They’ll ensure that your vehicle is seen by qualified technicians and, if repairs are required, that only genuine smart parts are used.
What does Driveline cover?
If your smart car suffers a mechanical or electrical failure, Driveline covers the cost of replacing or repairing its most vital parts and systems, as well as the labour costs. You’ll be covered for:
Claims
- Up to £5,000 per year
The total number of claims paid cannot exceed £5,000 within a 12 month period from policy inception date or 12 consecutive monthly policies following renewal.

Failure due to wear and tear is covered up to 100,000 miles from the date of first registration if it causes sudden and unexpected electrical or mechanical failure of the insured vehicle.

As our most basic smart extended warranty, Driveline doesn’t include these handy extras listed below that come with our Tier 1 and Tier 2 extended warranties:
- Replacement car cover (up to 7 days)
- Unlimited claims - up to the value of your car's purchase price. Driveline is limited to £5,000
- Wear and tear cover benefit up to 100,000 miles since registration of the vehicle
Extensive parts coverage- for example, it can cost more than £1,000 to replace an air conditioning system, as it’s a complex job. If your air conditioning fails, Driveline won’t cover it, but Tier 1 will.
